What Is Search Engine Optimization?
Search Engine Optimization or SEO for short is the term applied to the process of getting a website to the first position on the front page of a search engine, in this case mainly Google.com for a given keyword phrase. This makes total sense right? Google owns the lion share of people searching so it would only make sense to optimise for it. However, the techniques below will help you rank on all search engines so don’t you worry your pretty little head!
Why Should You Use Search Engine Optimiztion?
The statistics show that over 50% of clicks go to the first position on the first page of a search result so doing every thing you can to get that first position spot is paramount to any business. Understanding why a website has the first position and knowing what strategies to implement are crucial in search engine optimization domination.
Who Can Help Me With Search Engine Optimization?
People/Companies spend thousands and thousands of dollars each year to people who specialize in search engine optimization. Even more money is spent on the latest software that guarantees top Google rankings and so forth.
I’ll show you what small changes you can make to your website to increase its Google rank.
Search Engine Optimization is generally broken up into two sections. On page SEO and Off Page SEO.
On-Page SEO
1. Make sure to use the H1, H2, H3 tags through out your article or post.
2. Try to use the Keyword in the first sentence of the first paragraph.
3. Try to use the Keyword somewhere in the last paragraph.
4. Underline and bold the Keyword once in the content somewhere.
5. Use a few relevant outbound links – make sure to make them no follow.
6. Use some LSI keywords.
7. Google is apparently checking bounce rate so try to make the article or post interesting to your readers.
8. Keyword density is important. You want to get between 1-4%. Don’t keyword stuff here it reads badly and Google knows what you’re trying to do.
9. Get the keyword in the Title tag of your page.
10. Use the keyword in your tags and categories.
Off-page SEO
1. Backlinks and you need plenty of them.
2. The anchor text used in your backlinks is important as well. Mix them up to make it look natural. However, from using Angela’s backlinks it would seem that it’s okay to use the same anchor text. I’ve tested this out and haven’t seen any negative affects.
3. How fast you make your backlinks is important as well. Build your links naturally. Don’t build 2000 in one day and none for the next 30 days.
4. Backlink Velocity is important as well. When you want to move up in rank build 5 one day, then 10 the next, then 15 the next etc.
As you can see there are a few things you need to get your head around when you write an article or post for your blog which is why search engine optimisation has a shroud of mystery attached to it. However, with the right information and strategies there is no reason why you can’t get any page you want to the top of Google. Now, we could go deep, deep, deep into all the stuff I’ve outlined above but one step at a time my man. One at a time.
